Hoda Bamboo Rods End Of Season-2009

A perfect end of season Untill recently our 2009 fishing season was very disappointing! My sons and I have been very busy the whole year leaving very little time for fly fishing. Bad weather conditions with storms and winds, rising and falling water levels and a very late hot summer with low waters made fishing at home and even during our summer holidays nearly impossible. How ever, last weekend, we finely find some time to make a last trip to our home water. The River Wiese in the German Blackforest. After a short time fishing, David and Robin hooked up with some nice trout but all were lost. We moved to a different beat and changed tactics to fish a backwater within the town of Zell where David spotted a very nice trout. The size of that fish forced us to change the tippet size. Meanwhile our club vice president came to town and was looking at us from a bridge. We tied on a size 10 pheasant tail nymph and checked all our knots. OK, ready to cast ! David’s second presentation was perfect, the fish took the nymph and David set the hook. The rainbow trout made several long runs down the river. The current and the fish’s weight made David’s fight very hard but after 35 minutes we finally landed a monster trout ! What a beautiful rainbow trout! 57cm and 2,5kg. Completely breathless David and I crawled up the bank to Robin and were all very happy to have such an amazing ending to a perfect day. We put our rods back into the car, changed our clothes and celebrated a memorable end of season with a hearty lunch and very tasty dessert at the Cafe Fräulin in downtown Zell. Tight Lines !
