Unfortunately the weather was unstable and the water level higher than expected for July. For two days heavy thunderstorms made fishing impossible. Due to the weather conditions there were no hatches, so fishing with heavy nymphs, streamers and attractor flies was necessary. For the first time, my sons David and Robin fished these Slovenian waters. Fishing this beautiful river in such spectacular scenery was fun and if needed they helped each other landing nice trouts. The upper river section managed by the Bohinj Fishing Association holds lots of good fish and we managed to fool some nice brown trout. The lower river section managed by the Slovenian Fishing Association underwent some changes due to a new management strategy. There were no longer any trophy trout  but a healthy population of Grayling spanning several generations. We definitely will be returning next year to enjoy the nature, hospitality and fly fishing in this beautiful country.    A short movie can be found here: YouTube Slovenia 2009 D.
